365/365 | Papercuts | Fading Parade
Jason Quever (AKA Papercuts) made an album that’s filled with that hazy, fuzzed, 60s dream-pop genre that we all know by now. Make all the assumptions that you want, but this is actually a pretty sophisticated album. The combination of those soft vocals, simple melodies, and emotional lyrics make Fading Parade an album that’s simple, yet grand.

Recommended by Albert - This is a weird, but great album. Apokalypsis has a vibe that’s all-around eerie and gloomy. Nothing too crazy, though; it’s similar to PJ Harvey’s style. At times, the atmosphere seems thick, but that’s part of its charm.

Unlearn contains everything from doo-wop, psychedelic, indie rock, soul, and the 60s. Andrew Savage and Jason Kelly have created an album that’s playful and fun. Each track is clever on its own, but when listened as a whole, it feels scattered. Take your time with this album.

The Belfast three-piece band gives a nod to the 80s, while simultaneously managing to have that lo-fi sound. You won’t get bored of it, folks.

Yes, Veronica Falls comes across as another sunny lo-fi indie pop album with nostalgia written all over it, but dig in deeper, and you can see the true potential of it. The band’s hooks and jangly guitars are a perfect mix for an eerie, but catchy, album.

Formally known as The Muslims (changed for reasons you can imagine), The Soft Pack are back sporting their classic “college-rock” sound. Surprisingly enough, their music is very comfortable and familiar.

I’ve never heard of The New Criminals before, so I’m still wondering where I found out about these guys. The cover art seemed cool and all, but when it came down to the music, it’s not the best.

To clarify, Soul Time! is a collection of demos and b-sides. When it comes to any Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings album, you just know that you won’t be disappointed.

The Naked and Famous’ take on pop music is fantastic. There’s bits and pieces of other genres integrated in each track, mixed in with some 70s glam and 80s pop synths.
